Vintage Notecards & Notebooks

For several years I have collected vintage patterns that I have found at Thrift Stores. I have never actually made a garment from these patterns, but use the adorable pictures on the front to decorate plain gift bags, notecards, and notebooks. I had not done this for sometime and just recently made these:

(Click on the image to see a closer view)
The notecards are blank on the inside so they can be used for any occassion. The notebooks are decorated front, back, and on the inside cover with paper and pieces from the pattern.

If you are interested in custom cards or a notebook please let me know in the comments below. The notecards are: 4 for $8.00. Notebooks are $10.00. (Price does not include shipping...If you are interested we can determine how you would like them shipped) These can be made custom for you with color and occassions in mind.

**I will be back later tonight with some pictures from our lake adventure weekend!** And I am still compiling some recipes and working on some great giveaways. Stay tuned!!

A Rush of Emotions...

This afternoon while out on our lunch break my coworker and I happend upon this:

This is Daniel Gilyeat and he on a 513 mile journey across Kansas City. Daniel was in Iraq when he lost his leg in a roadside explosion. Twenty six days after losing his leg he was walking. He is doing this to raise awareness of issues facing veterans. The reason he set his goal for 26 days was in honor of his first steps of walking as an amputee. He chose 513 miles because of his favorite bible verse, John 15:13 "Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one's life for his friends"

I was honored to see him out walking on his journey today. I felt so many emotions when I saw him and his crew out in one of the hottest days Kansas City has had in a while. Today's heat index was 115 degrees and his goal for today is to walk 30 miles!!!

You can follow his journey here. If you live in the Kansas City area it lists where he will be walking each day,and if you don't you can follow along with him on this site.

It truely was awesome to see him out accomplishing this goal!

This weekend...

Two Poots are heading to the lake with Keith and Kerry. Keith's grandparents live on the lake and we will be spending our days soaking up the sun on their pontoon boat. I can NOT wait!!

I promise that next week I will be downsizing my craft room

which means a couple giveaways!!

I have also been gathering several recipes and ideas for a post on "Eating Organic/Healthy on a Budget". I might actually do a few posts so if there is anything you would like me to talk about let me know.

Happy Weekend!!

Glamping??? Yes PLEASE!!

Have you heard this term? Glamping? I had never heard of it before until I stumbled upon it on apartment therapy. It basically is glamorous camping. I think I could handle this:

**All images were found via google**
Anyone else game? Have any of you been "glamping"?

We are professional "Shell Seekers"...

We spent an afternoon at Shell Island which gave us all the lessons we needed to become professional Shell Seekers. Or "shell snobs" as I labeled us by the end of the trip. We knew what we liked and wouldn't settle for less.

We also did a little geocaching at a local park:

Poot deemed himself "King Palm" and walked around fanning us while geocaching. He is so silly!! And that is why I love him.

We shopped and dined at John's Pass...

And visited the Salvador Dali Museum. I could of stayed there all day. It was fascinating!

I promise I only have one more post about our trip!! It has been fun going through the pictures and reliving those relaxing beach days. Thanks for allowing me to talk about it here. I promise I will have some crafting posts soon.

I am off to work on a little baby shower gift and catch up on So You Think You Can Dance. I am currently 6 episodes behind. Ha!

Beach Love: Part Two

The rest of our vacation was spent lounging on tubes in the ocean, eating amazing seafood, meeting a blogging friend, and hunting for sea shells!

This bird could be found every afternoon at 6pm standing in front of our neighbors door waiting for a meal. Since we stayed in condos there is a guy who stays there several months out of the year and would feed this guy bologna every day. Poor guy didn't want anything to do with lettuce...he only wanted meat.
I was so lucky to be able to meet up with the fabulous Becky Farley!! This was the first time to actually meet a blogging friend and it was such a blast. Seriously...we hung out until the wee hours of the morning laughing non stop!! That explains why we look so tired in these pictures...

I can not wait for her to come stay with Two Poots in KC!! We are no doubt going to crochet, craft, and shop!! Thanks Becky for meeting up with us and listening to Poot's stories all night. You seriously are the sweetest and I miss you!!

I will be back tomorrow with lots of pictures of what Scott's mom has deemed the "Special Spot". I can not believe how many shells we found there! We literally have a large cooler full of them right now.
The next few weeks I am going to be busy making lots of cute things for Kerry's upcoming baby shower! I have a lot of cute things planned but I won't be able to show them until after the shower. She reads this blog and I don't want to ruin any suprises.

I hope everyone had a great weekend!

Beach Love

After leaving New Orleans, we drove along the Gulf Coast stopping at small towns on the way to Florida!

As like all our road trips...we always end up getting a flat tire. Between both of our cars in the last year we have purchased 14 tires!! And that 14th tire was acquired right as we pulled into Pass-A-Grille, FL. We didn't let it get us down though!! Really at that point all you can do is laugh! So on we ventured to our final vacation spot and enjoyed our little beach.

Here are some of my favorite shots taken around town:

It pretty much rained every day that we were there, but it would blow over pretty quickly. I always enjoyed watching them roll in over the ocean. We tried to get back to our hotel before it hit one night but didn't make it:

Even with the rain it was the perfect little getaway.I loved just waking up, putting on my swimsuit, and not worrying about fixing my hair or makeup! I was even able to read two books while on our trip! I took so many pictures that I will writing a few more posts about the beach. Hope you don't mind.
