Fresher Than Fresh

Last weekend after all our hard work in the yard, we rewarded our self by having snowcones. We found the Fresher Than Fresh trailer and they were amazing!!

I tried the blackberry lavendar and Poot had a sample of four. Every single flavor was delicious. If you are ever in the Kansas City area be sure to check out their website to see where their trailer will be! It is definitely Fresher than Fresh!

Happy Memorial Day Weekend!!

Sounds of Summer

Hello! I just wanted to stop in really quick and say hello! And hello to all my new readers! With the change of the seasons I always find that I change the music I listen to. The warmer weather finds me listening to:

Jack Johnson I listen to him on Pandora all day at work. And usually on my drives home!

Band of Horses They are becoming one of my favorite bands! I have listened to them on repeat all week!

Bob Marley Nothing reminds me of summer more than the music of Bob Marley.

Brett Dennen I saw him live when he opened for John Mayer a few years back and was blown away! A very talented young man!!

So these are the tunes that are playing around Two Poots Manor. What are you listening to these day? Do you find you gravitate towards different artists during the changing weather?

I will be back tonight to post about our spontanous Girls Night Out last night. We ended up 5th row at the Lifehouse/Chris Daughtry show. It was amazing.
Happy Wednesday!!

Two Poots Garden

This weekend was spent out in our yard from sun up to sun down. We built our square foot garden bed and made several flower beds, etc. I was able to soak up a lot of sun and my moms knowledge of flowers. With the help of several friends and my parents we got alot accomplished!

Here is a peek into our garden:

The boys working on our square foot garden bed!

Mom and I planted some lavendar and dahliahs. I took her advice and started lining the flower bed with old plates. I think it looks cute.

My parents brought us some ferns from their yard to plant along with several flowers. Last year Scott lined our flower beds with wine bottles. Don't worry we didn't drink all of them. We would get empty bottles when we would visit local wineries. 99% of them are Missouri Wine bottles. We love our Missouri wine. That is also a head of Andrew Jackson that we found last year while digging up a flower bed. So strange, but I made sure to keep him in our garden!

Boomer would not stop laying on the lavendar. Once I moved him off he decided he would lay as close as possible to it. So silly! Mark was so sweet and fixed our bottom step on our back deck! Thanks Mark!

We finally hung our house number sign that my mom made us! And I put some extra touches to our front porch.

After the sun went down we grilled and enjoyed a bottle of wine, while I mapped out our garden.

Sunday we got up and planted our seeds in the garden. Poot also made me a cage with a door over our strawberry plants. That little area with the strawberries is now our "berry patch". We planted two blueberry bushes and another raspberry bush! Yum!!

With almost three acres we are no where near being finished but we are enjoying every bit of our hard work. We have been enjoying the evenings watering everything and sitting outside dreaming, catching up on our day, and planning more projects. We can't wait for our garden to start producing yummy veggies! It will cut back drasticly on our grocery bills. I think in the weeks to come I might but together a week of our home cooked meals. We love cooking at home and try to make everything organic while staying on a budget. Would anyone be interested in a post on this??

Crafting...

Last Wednesday was Craft Night with Mom and Aunt Paula. We had orginally planned on starting our yo yo quilt, however, after my mother read that it was going to take 22 yards of fabric, we changed our minds!

Instead my mom is going to make a yo yo pillow! Here is the fabric she selected. It is going to go in her kitchen.

I think I screamed when I saw how small the yo yo's were after they were stitched. No wonder it takes 22 yards of fabric!!

My Aunt Paula finished up an adorable crochet vest for her grand daughter.

She pretty much just made that pattern up! It was loosely done off of a hoodie pattern. I have a LOT to learn from her.

I decided that I was going to start on my very first quilt. For years I have been buying vintage sheets and pillowcases. I have stored them away afraid to cut into them, but Rachel Denbow's quilt inspired me! Here is the fabric I decided to go with. I was able to cut all the squares out that I needed. My next step is deciding where I want them to go and then sewing them all together.

While there I browsed through this amazing Flea Market Style Magazine and found lots of things that inspired me. Here are a few that I took pictures of to file away for upcoming projects at Two Poots Manor.

I want to make this style of curtain for our sunroom.

Love this idea for using up some of my doilies.

Love the 50's style and who wouldn't want this in their home?

We have the perfect spot in our backyard for us to have an old farm table. It even has a tree close by so that I can hang a chandelier from it!! This has been a dream of mine for sometime. It would be the perfect place for us to entertain!

We worked like crazy this weekend in our yard. This Spring has been so wet in KC. It was first full weekend of sunshine. I will be back tomorrow to post lots of pictures of our garden and yard. I am quiet impressed with what we accomplished. We wouldn't of been able to get as much done without the help of my parents and our amazing friends. Hope you had an amazing weekend.

Today I am dreaming of...

Trying some amazing snow cones from Fresher than Fresh Snowcones. I read about this little place in a local newspaper! How have I not heard of this before? Poot and I will definitely being going this weekend! It is too cute and the flavors sound out of this world, and to top it off the flavors are all natural!!

I think I am going to try this flavor:

Our garden plans!! This weekend my parents are coming over to help us in our yard and to help build our square foot garden!!

Starting my quilt using Rachel Denbow's pattern! I wasn't lucky enough to grab one of her quilt kits, but that is okay! I have an over abundance of vintage sheets and pillowcases that I cut out last night! I will post pictures here soon. I am loving all the fabric I am using!

Getting away for awhile. These past week I have had a sudden urge to just get away with Poot from it all. No computers, no tv, no cell phones. Just us and the open road. I want the wind in my hair and my feet hanging out the window, while jamming to Jack Johnson. I really feel like I need this! I hope we can get away for an afternoon over Memorial Day weekend! In the meantime I will just look at this picture to keep me calm:

What do your dreams look like?

The winner is....

Shauna!!!

Congratulations Shauna! Please email me your address(ambercox711@hotmail.com) and I will get the granny squares mailed to you!

Tonight we were able to get out in our garden and plant a few more things. Scott suprised me and cleaned out an area to do a small strawberry patch and bought me two more strawberry plants! I am so excited because I have been eating my weight in strawberries lately! At almost $5.00 for organic strawberries this should save us some money!

There was even one lonely strawberry that was ready to be devoured! It was yummy!!

I promise I gave Poot a bite!!

Bedroom Decor...

I was going to do the giveaway tonight for the granny squares but have decided to extend the deadline to tomorrow evening. I am being very lazy tonight! This means you have one more day to sign up!! Just post your comment on the giveaway post and I will draw a lucky winner tomorrow night. Poot is having a guys night out and I am just vegging on the couch. I am going to catch up on Tori and Dean, work on my giant granny square afghan (almost done!!), and read.

Also don't forget there are still a few pieces of clothing left that are not sold on the post below. If you are interested in any piece just send me an email or leave me a comment. Also I have several more things to sell...so I might post a few more things in the next week or so!

This weekend I finally hung up some pretties in our bedroom and tackled organizing my jewelry. I had most of my favorite pieces just thrown in an old makeup bag. I was like a kid in a candy store going through it all. There were so many pieces I had forgot about. Here is a look at our newly decorated bedroom:

These are hung on Poots side of the bed. They are all the little things I have made him since we started dating.

My side of the bed.

I hung some of my favorite instamax photos on some twine. (Sorry the pictures are so dark...we have had rain for way too many days, the sun came out for a few minutes, so I snapped these pictures very quickly!)

My jewelry wall! I put some of my favorite Amy Butler fabric in some embroidery hoops to display my earrings! I really like how it turned out and now I won't always wear the same pair of earrings everyday!

The wall of Two Poots! The Two Poots in Love was done by Janel and the other drawing was by our friend Keith. Both pieces are so special!

Now that our room is almost complete (there are a few small things I need to do)I don't want to leave it. It is so cozy and warm!
Well...I am off to relax on the couch for a couple of hours!
Hope you had a great Monday!

A Virtual Clothes Sale!!!

Since I moved into Poot Manor I have had a hard time letting go of things! Clothing being one of them. I have so many cute pieces that are well just a little too small for me. Although I do plan on losing some weight I have decided, with some convincing from a dear friend, that it was time to let them go. I love shopping garage sales but I hate hosting them. It never fails that on the day I plan one it rains and rains and rains!! So I have decided to offer my wears to you, my readers!!
All my clothes that I am selling have probably only been worn one to two times and some even have the tags on them still!! They are in excellent condition.

I will accept checks and paypal, but would prefer paypal. Prices include shipping. If you are interested in a piece please email me at: ambercox711@hotmail.com or leave me a comment below. Once a piece has been sold I will indicate it on here. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask. If these sell...I will post some more.
