Thankful Tuesdays!!!

On my drive home tonight, fighting my way through traffic, I really started to think about all the things I am thankful for. I am such a lucky gal and I thought it would fun to start a regular post every Tuesday...but I want YOUR help. I would love to start posting other peoples lists of what they are thankful for. I will do a "thankful spotlight" every Tuesday. If you would like to be on board you can email your Thankful List to: ambercox711@hotmail.com. Please put Thankful Tuesday in the subject line in case it is put in my junk folder. Please also include any photos and links to your blog. I am super excited about this and hope that you will join in!

Here is what I am thankful for this fine Tuesday:

*Yummy local tomatoes

*Spending time with my brother before he heads back to Spain

*Fresh flowers from our yard

*My organized yarn stash

*Beautiful butterflies

*Pandora One to help me through my workday!

So what are you thankful for?? If you want to join in don't forget to email me your list. I would LOVE to start doing a spotlight every Tuesday!

Carnival Fun...

I mentioned in a previous post that I am planning on redecorating our sun room in a Carnival Theme. I got the idea after seeing all of Emily's prints from her Lost on the Midway Collection. You can see all her wonderful pieces here. The Black Apple shop was where I made my first etsy purchase. She is such a talented artist. Here are a few of my favorites I would love to hang in our Sun Room:

I did purchase her postcard set from this collection and plan on hanging them as garland.

Becky sent me this doll pattern which will be perfect on the guest bed:

I then of course had to order these to go with the Siamese Twin pillow. I love that you can embroider the tattoos before sewing them. Adorable!!

Both of these doll patterns can be purchased at Spoonflower.
I am so excited to get started on the decorating. This will give me an excuse to pop in our dvds of Carnivale for a little more inspiration!

I highly recommend this show if you haven't seen it. It was a shame that it only lasted two seasons.
What is inspiring you these days?

The start to a great weekend!!

Yesterday was a beautiful day! Even though big storms blew through Kansas City, I stayed inside and was a happy "Little Poot". Why you might ask?? Well... I received a box of goodies from Becky in the mail:

When we were in Florida I fell in love with Plantain Chips!! What is even better is that they are gluten free. I had sadly run out, but Becky changed that. They are made in her hometown of Tampa, FL, and they are delicious. I am going to try and control myself and not eat them all this weekend. Ha! She also sent along the funniest book called "Cats are Weird". Oh man this book is dead on. Poot and I were cracking up looking through it last night. Thank you Becky! XOXO

I decided to treat myself to a Starbucks. It had been too long...can you tell??

I started preparing my supplies for my handmade Christmas list. I have vowed to start early and it paid off. I found all of this on clearance and I can't wait to begin!!

I have tickets on my fridge to go see two amazing bands...

Band of Horses and She & Him!! I seriously am giddy just thinking about seeing them live!! Can't wait to see what Zoey will be wearing!

I have been working on my multi colored granny afghan. I have decided to name it Carnival Granny because I am going to decorate in a Carnival theme in our sunroom. It is slowing getting bigger:

I love how it is turning out.

Well, I am off to get ready for our day. We are going to hang out with my Bubs today (I can't believe he leaves for Spain again in a month!).Tonight we are going to a birthday party for Scott's step-dad. Tomorrow I plan on cleaning all day and posting a LOT more vintage goodness in the shop!
Happy Saturday!

Crochet Today Lovelies

I just picked up the latest copy of Crochet Today and got some amazing ideas for the upcoming holiday season. Yes...I am already making my list of things to make for Christmas. This year I am determined to actually be on schedule!!
Here are some of my favorites from this issue:

I love the school days afghan. I have a really cool spin on it that I can't wait to try!! I also know a couple of kiddos that might love the owl bag (okay... I would love one too). The blue "wig" just cracke me up. I think I might play around with that pattern and make a hat with it. I just love pretty blue color though!
What are you crocheting these days??

An end of the Summer Picnic

Scott starts school this Thursday, so we have been trying to get in a few more "summery" things before then. The weather the last couple of days in Kansas City has been amazing, almost Fall like! We decided to enjoy the weather with an end of the Summer Picnic.

It was the perfect way to spend a Monday night! We had egg salad sandwiches, my favorite ice tea, and the most delicious strawberries and raspberries! I read the latest issues of Crochet Today, Bust, and Artful Blogging! Great issues!! I surprised Scott with the last two books in The Witching Hour series.(Hence the red bow in his hair...ha)He is hooked on those books! Too cute!

I hope we are able to get in a couple more picnics before the end of Fall!

Stuck at Home

Today I was unable to go to work due to some car issues (My silly Jetta) and Poot had meetings all day at KU for school. It was unexpected but I made sure to use the most of my free day! I am almost done with all the baby shower gifts for Kerry! I can't show you here until after the shower, since she reads my blog. Lots of cuteness though...that is for sure.

After working on the baby shower gifts, I was trying to decide what project to pick up and try to complete. I have so many afghans started but what did I decide to do? Start a new one...

I am making this with all of my scrap yarn. I am planning on using it on the daybed I hope to purchase soon for our sun room.

We made history today with Poot. Becky...you won't believe this...he came home with a new cell phone. And it is TOUCHSCREEN!!

I never thought I would see the day! His cell phone was so ancient. Ha!

Here is a sneak peek of a couple items that will be up for sale in my shop
this weekend.

Well, Scott's mom is taking us to the Comedy Club tonight. We are going to see John Pinette.

Should be a good time and it will keep my mind off of the daunting task of getting my car fixed!! I just hope it is nothing serious! Boo!

Have a great night!
P.S. I can't wait to watch the finale of So You Think You Can Dance tonight when I get home. I have no idea who I want to win, because all three are so talented. I have a feeling that it will be Kent and I would be okay with that!

I must confess....

I tend to leave yarn all over the house.

Yesterday I found a ball of yarn on my kitchen table next to the salt and pepper shakers. Well....isn't that where everyone keeps theirs?

I feel like a teeny bopper because I have a crush on Zac Efron...

Recently saw Charlie St.Cloud and that is all it took. Well...okay and Hairspray...and maybe High School Musical. Poot says "I am Gross" Ha! I say,"Rude"!

I get a kick out of dressing my cats in ridiculous things.

I have been daydreaming about making these:

And they are gluten free!! Have any of you tried making macaroons? If so I would love recipes or suggestions.

What are some of your guilty pleasures?
