Camera Suggestions??

*image found on weheartit.com*
The number one item on my Christmas List this year is a new digital camera. However, I am not really sure what type I should ask for? I currently have a Cannon Powershot that I will always keep in my purse. I think I am ready for an upgrade though, something that will really make my pictures *pop*! I honestly am pretty technically challenged. My current camera has so many features that I have never taken the time to figure out, and I have had the darn thing for 4 plus years! Yikes!

So...do you have any suggestions? What type of camera are you currently using? Any input at all would be helpful.

Some things I am looking forward to:
*Yoga....tonight!!
*dinner at Noodles & Co.
*Joshua Radin in concert tomorrow night!!!
*70 degree weather this weekend
*Karaoke Night
*Sleeping!!
*New episode of The Office and Project Runway

XOXO
Amber

If you are wanting just a simple point and click camera, I would get a Nikon. When looking at cameras the thing you want to look at is the type of lens in the camera since you can't ever change it out like on an SLR which uses multiple lenses. Nikon cameras are made with quality camera lenses, have large MP's and large screens. I'm a canon girl and all of my better cameras are Canon, but Nikon's point-and-shoot digital cameras are hard to beat. :)

Hi Amber,

Yogalessons are great :)

I have Panasonic DMC-FZ7 lumix camera.
Before this camera we had a olympus, that was a great camera.. but was stolen :( In the beginning i really had to get used to this camera, but after a while i did. If i have to give it a number from 0-10 it would get a 7. The camera is handy, makes good pictures & there are options with the lighting, sports, portrets ect.

Hope that helps :)

Hi Amber,

I have a canon dslr and I have a nikon coolpix. The Nikon is great and easy to use and it takes rad pics, also you can use the stylus to write on your pictures too. My canon is great but I am not an expert at using it yet and I've had it for over a year! I agree with Jen that the Nikon would be the way to go.

My husband bought me a Canon XT Rebel on craigslist for me.... b/c I wanted to learn. However, I bought a new lens for it, which is an absolute MUST HAVE if you get a DSLR! It's the cheapest lens too for it also, and almost everyone I've met who is a photographer tells me to get this particular lens! I'm starting small before I get to my BIG camera! Gotta learn how to work the manual settings!

Soooo.....my camera -- a Kodak ......was stolen....by two little girls who cohabitate with me....I believe they must've thought they broke it and threw it away because I can't find it anywhere and CAN'T BLOG BECAUSE NO PICTURES!!!!!

So, I am on the hunt as well and will be keeping up with these comments....I would love a Canon Rebel but that wouldn't be great for snapshots. I would love two -- the Rebel (which fits me right) and that camera that has the picture screen on BOTH sides.

Keep us posted on what you come up with! Love ya and hope you have a great weekend!
