A Rush of Emotions...

This afternoon while out on our lunch break my coworker and I happend upon this:

This is Daniel Gilyeat and he on a 513 mile journey across Kansas City. Daniel was in Iraq when he lost his leg in a roadside explosion. Twenty six days after losing his leg he was walking. He is doing this to raise awareness of issues facing veterans. The reason he set his goal for 26 days was in honor of his first steps of walking as an amputee. He chose 513 miles because of his favorite bible verse, John 15:13 "Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one's life for his friends"

I was honored to see him out walking on his journey today. I felt so many emotions when I saw him and his crew out in one of the hottest days Kansas City has had in a while. Today's heat index was 115 degrees and his goal for today is to walk 30 miles!!!

You can follow his journey here. If you live in the Kansas City area it lists where he will be walking each day,and if you don't you can follow along with him on this site.

It truely was awesome to see him out accomplishing this goal!
XOXO
