Hello...

Dear Hoot-n-Annie Reader,
I thought today would be a good day to introduce myself, since my mom has been missing in action this week around the blogsphere. Come to think of it she has been slacking in a lot of areas, mainly petting ME!

My name is Babakeenya and I pretty much rule the roost here at Poot Manor. Most days you will find me relaxing in the suns rays until they come home. I usually greet them at the door, and will continue to "talk" their ears off until they stop to pet me. I love laps and as soon as there is one available, you can pretty much guarantee that I will be on it.

However, lately these big piles of yarn have been taking my spot on my moms lap. It seems that although my mom is spending more time on the couch these last few days, there is no room for me! I try to fight way around whatever project she is working on, but I am never comfortable unless I am wrapped up in all that warm yarn. Mom will even tease me by wrapping the yarn into BALLS!! Yet I get scolded if I try and run off with one....Hello??!!!

So it seems this is where she will be for the next few days and I am determined to be in the middle of it all. I think she secretly likes it because sometimes I am a model for whatever she is making. I play along because it makes her laugh.

Well...I am off to see what trouble I can cause. There is talks of a Harry Potter Marathon which means LOTS of lap time for me.

XOXO
Babakeenya

Hello Princess Baba!!! I've missed you lately! Sorry we've been slacking on our visits, I know how you enjoy a variety of laps to peruse from time to time. I hope you will forgive us, your highness, and not snub us when we come in the door. I promise to come and see you in the next couple of days!

For Poor Laura, who lost the recipe, a 2nd edition printing of the original pumpkin roll recipe:

"ADVENTURES WITH PUMPKIN ROLLS:
Mix 1 cup sugar + 3 eggs
Mix in 1 cup pumpkin
Combine 1 cup flour + 1 tsp baking powder + 2 tbsp cinnamon + 1 tbsp ginger + 1/2 tbsp nutmeg + 1 salt.
Mix the dry stuff with the wet stuff.
Pour it in a well-buttered cookie sheet.
Bake at 375 for 15 minutes (or whenever your toothpick is clean)
MEANWHILE, IN ANOTHER CORNER OF THE KITCHEN:
Mix 8 oz. cream cheese + 1 cup powdered sugar + 1 tsp vanilla + 4 tbsp butter
BACK AT THE OVEN:
Let pumpkin bread cool on tea towel for 15 minutes.
Roll the bread in a spiral and leave it alone for 10 minutes.
Unroll and spread the delicious creamy cheesy goodness across the bread (Stop about an inch or so from one end because the cream will flow)
Roll it back up.
Wrap it and put it in the fridge for a couple hours.
Slice and watch people lose their ever-loving minds.
You will be praised for bringing the best-tasting dessert that ever was into their world.
Sit back and smile.
You've done well."

Happy Holidays,
Big Poot
